Stunning cliffs and fertility myths: Allen’s Ireland Road Trip

Vibe Teacher Allen takes in breathtaking sights in Ireland and recaptures something he thought was lost as his Irish Tour reaches the dramatic south west.

DAY FIVE: Cliffs of Moher and Kerry

When I woke up this morning, I didn’t think I would reclaim my virginity by day’s end. But according to legend, one anticlockwise lap around Dunguaire Castle can do just that. Some of the girls in our traveling party did several laps around the 500-year-old landmark just to be sure!

With our purity again in tact, we set off for the Cliffs of Moher. We would soon be blown away by ‘grand’ views of this magnificent stretch of coastline. Sorry White Cliffs of Dover, but you’ve been put to shame.

After a few hours in the bus, we arrived in a sleepy little village for a night of karaoke at another appropriately named hostel: “The Randy Leprechaun”. It didn’t take long for the night to escalate into a song battle with the other Paddywagon tour group… video of our golden chords to come later!

DAY SIX: Dingle

What another cracking day! The south is an amazing country of green pastures bordered by the azure Atlantic. For us Aussies missing a good sandy beach, we couldn’t resist the opportunity for a quick splash. Soon after, we were dining on a delicious seafood lunch including chowder, mussels and sea bass.

After a few more pit-stops to take in the breathtaking views, our guide Brian took us to a fertility rock. We couldn’t believe it. Yesterday we reclaimed our virginity and today we captured guaranteed fertility. The city of Killarney wasn’t going to know what hit it tonight!
