The incredible Josh (JD) is one of the awesome Team Leaders on our SEN team here at Vibe Teaching. Josh is originally from the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland Australia, where he was both a SEN Teacher and basketball player. Josh still plays basketball here in London and often travels Europe with his team for tournaments. He is also a superstar at conversing through Makaton!
Tell us about your story with Vibe
I was in a bit of a sour situation in a school and wasn’t loving the London life. I was almost ready to pack up and go home when I got in touch with Vibe Teaching. Vibe offered me a career change by coming into the office, sponsored me and gave me an amazing new life in London!
What do you love most about working with Vibe?
The super positive culture and the autonomy within my SEN team.
What’s the best thing about living in London?
London has a pulse…my English girlfriend!
What’s your favourite area in London? Why?
My hood…Angel! It’s so central and there is a great buzz!
What’s your favourite pub in London?
The Castle in Angel
What’s one of your best travel experiences?
I traveled to Warsaw in Poland for a basketball trip. It wasn’t a place that was ever on my radar to travel to so I had no expectations whatsoever and it turned our to be an unexpectedly awesome trip that caught me completely off guard. It was just so pretty, really cheap and the people were so friendly.
What are your top tips for teachers in London?
For anyone in London really – do a Monopoly pub crawl and have a proper English fry-up in an old English cafe.
What/who are you most inspired by?
My Dad! He is just such a resilient guy – there is nothing he can’t do!
