At Vibe, we focus on matching the right candidates to the right schools in London. And sometimes, we create the right conditions for two people to be matched in love – we guess we just really like to make people happy!
Megan Figgest (Class of 2014) met Todd Drinkwater (Class of 2014) in Prague. They were each travelling through Europe – Megan was touring with Contiki and Todd with Topdeck – before getting stuck in to teaching in London.

Todd introduced Megan to the Vibe family (a strategic move to ‘bump into’ her more often), and under the influence of a perfect social magic at a few Vibe parties, their relationship blossomed. We call that an Excellent Match!
Megan and Todd moved back to New Zealand together in 2016. We were pumped to see them still totally in love at our Vibe Alumni event in Hamilton and wanted to find out more about their positive and life-changing experience teaching in London with Vibe.
What did you love most about working with Vibe?
Megan: It’s a young community, it’s a travelling community, and it’s full of fresh and innovative ideas.
Todd: For me, it’d definitely be the Friday night drinks! Plus, seeing other Vibers out on the job and getting the positive morning calls from the Vibe team.
What’s the best thing about living in London?
Megan: The shows! I love seeing live theatre. I love the hustle and bustle of the city. I love that Europe is so close and it’s really cheap to travel there. As well, I love that most of the schools in London have really young and fun staff teams.
Todd: You can never be bored in London!

What is your favourite pub in London?
Megan: The Crabtree in Hammersmith.
Todd: The Boathouse in Putney.
What’s one of your best travel experiences?
Megan: We volunteered in Greece for two months during the summer through Workaway. I taught Drama, and we stayed on air mattresses and tried to learn French – in Greece! But, we met really cool people. Workaway is great for teachers who want to earn some money and have a unique experience over the six weeks of summer.
Todd: When I travelled to Iceland. Every corner I drove around I felt like a National Geographic explorer. I’ll never forget the snow-capped mountains and seeing sea pups on the ice sheets.
What are your top tips for teachers in London?
Megan: Spend all your money on travel! Go into really challenging schools. Even if it’s just for a supply day, you’ll learn so much from it and be a better teacher because of it.
Todd: Be a ‘yes man’. Make the most of every opportunity.
How were you inspired by working with Vibe?
Megan: All of the people we met, they all had that same travelling buzz! We’d go to Friday drinks in the office and chat with everyone about where we were going next – Paris, Greece, always somewhere really cool and fresh.
Todd: There’s always a trip coming up or an event or a cool course where you can learn new things. There’s always something to do.
Megan: Definitely always something to do – London was amazing!
