Vibe Tour: A Cracking Family Affair

Family is a big deal for us at Vibe Teaching.

Many of our teachers are in London having left a home that lies across oceans. Because of this, we like to create at Vibe Teaching a feeling of community, of family; a sense of togetherness formed by a unique and shared experience.

And this togetherness isn’t limited to London itself – it goes beyond the city of London to link together a living, breathing, cross-continent family.

One of the ways we try to inspire this togetherness is through hosting alumni events across the globe. We’ve got this saying: “Once a Viber, always a Viber.” We want our community to know their Viber status isn’t lost once they’ve moved beyond the London classroom. At these events we’re about getting together face-to-face, making space for old mates to connect over a few beers, laugh, reminisce and have fun.

We also want to embrace opportunities to meet new teachers, welcoming them into the gang by inspiring them to make the big and bold move to teach in London.

Already this year we’ve hosted events across Australia, and this month, for the first time, we said Kia Ora to New Zealand!

We’ve been building a great partnership with the University of Auckland this year, so we jumped at the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the team. Here we connected with Education students at their Education Careers Expo with one message: teach in London, play in Europe!

We headed to the University of Waikato in Hamilton, the place of study for our very own Head of Family, Renee! We met with the Careers team to learn more about the student community and share the story of Vibe Teaching.

We hosted the first of our Vibe Alumni events at one of Hamilton’s favourite watering holes, the Good George Brewing and Dining Hall. Here we saw just how strong the community spirit of Vibe Teaching really is!

Todd and Roman were mates who taught together at a school in Fulham a few years ago. They’re now both working in schools in Hamilton, making the most of everything they learnt while teaching in London.

Higgo catching up with Megan and Shaina. Megan worked in the Vibe office with Shaina, another crazy Kiwi who is a big part of the Vibe Teaching family!

These sort of re-connections are full of positive energy and reinforce the fact that Vibe’s community spirit is alive and well – it’s the thing that makes us really special! We saw this again at our Auckland alumni event at the Conservatory, a very cool bar right on the harbour.

Here, it was all about family. A long-time friend of Vibe, Karsha [second from top left], brought her mum and kids along to help out at our event – thanks Karsha!

Another big part of the Vibe family, Heidi [right], joined us for most of the action in Auckland. Heidi moved to teach in London thanks to her big brother, Luke (Cal), our Candidate Services Director. Even though he lives far away, Heidi felt connected to her big bro by just being with the Vibe team. We love her to bits!

We had a cracking time in NZ! Seeing as Vibe is part Kiwi-owned, it felt pretty special to return to the roots of our family.
Next stop: Australia! Follow our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for all of the sensational action of our #vibetour!
