Our wonderful Caitlin (Millsy) is one of the smiling, welcoming faces from the Resource Team who was born in Surrey UK but grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand. She lived in Switzerland in 2011 working as a nanny, before heading back to NZ to complete her teacher training. She taught intermediate for two years before moving to London in February this year. On the weekends you might see Caitlin exploring green spaces like Richmond Park, watching musical theatre performances or hard at work in the kitchen cooking up a storm!
Tell us about your story with Vibe
I started doing supply Primary Teaching back in February when I first got to London under the Pink Team’s guidance. In April the guys asked me to join the office, where I am now part of the Resource Team meeting all the new teachers and teaching assistants when they come to register with Vibe.
What do you love most about working with Vibe?
I love the relationships built between the team, candidates and schools. The teachers are cared about and really looked after by all the Vibers in the office.
What’s the best thing about living in London?
The people you meet and the opportunities to explore not only this city but the UK and Europe.
What’s your favourite area in London? Why?
Richmond Park and Kew Gardens – they really remind me of big, open and grassy spaces back in New Zealand, they are close to the river and absolutely beautiful!
What’s your favourite pub in London?
When you have this many options, you don’t need a favourite!
What’s one of your best travel experiences?
I spent two weeks travelling around Spain with Contiki. I was able to explore the one country intensively which was fascinating and I made some amazing friends along the way. Iceland is also incredible – unfortunately I lost my camera (and all my photos) so I will have to go back!
What are your top tips for teachers in London?
Your Teaching Assistants are your best resource! Make the most of your weekends by day tripping/overnighting to other UK cities
What/who are you most inspired by?
Positive people who make the most of every opportunity and who express their gratitude freely.
What is your Yearbook Quote/quote that you live by?
‘What’s for you will not pass you by’
Great stuff Caitlin. Love having you on board as a Viber.
